| Local,
sustainable English hardwoods are used to create all my furniture.
And, although my designs are contemporary, the craftsmanship methods
I use are traditional. The Osborne Chair, for example, is formed to
an elegant and ergonomic design with 16 splined joints, attaching
the back to the seat of the chair. My tables are simple, timeless
and unfussy with tabletops frequently including features such as visible,
wedged mortise and tenon joints.
Subtle
stainless steel features are often incorporated in my work as seen
in the Jasper Table. The juxtaposition of natural wood against the
reflective quality of stainless steel adds an intriguing design
element.
The
use of tung oil to finish my furniture is important. It is derived
from a Japanese nut and it creates a beautiful and durable finish
allowing communication with the wood through the sense of touch.
